True and false about cats.
Sometimes people think they know everything about cats. The reason of it is the behavior of cats. A person watching them begins to make some conclusions that are are wrong in majority of cases. In any case if you watch the behavior of your cat attentively you'll notice some regularities that may be useful for you in future.
One of such myths is that the best food for the cat is milk. In reality it is not so. The reason of that "commonly known fact" are thousands of cartoons and magazines. Besides, kittens really like to drink milk and they receive milk from the mother cat the first months of their life. A kitten with a plate of milk became famous and people simply transmitted this image to all cats. But in reality the stomach of many cats just doesn't accept milk and some cats even suffer from stomach disorders drinking it.
The other not less famous myth is that cats scream only in spring. Cats scream to get the attention of the opposite sex. In reality cats demand attention from opposite sex almost every month. Simply in spring people start to open the windows and balconies this fact allows to transmit the smell of the cats. So the access to one another becomes easier in such a way.
Some people think that after sterilization cats become fat and lazy. In reality they become calm and sleepy that may be confused with idleness. Any cat sleeps not less than 18 hours a day and it doesn't matter whether a cat was castrated or not.
Everybody who has a cat in his house can see their cat licking himself. Almost everybody thinks they are doing it only to become clean. But in reality they do that not only to wash themselves and get away the smell and dust but also to keep fit their psychological state. Their hair makes special substance that is necessary for the stable psyche of the animal.
Almost all cats purr only when they feel good. They also may purr when they feel paint, when they are offended or scared. Sometimes cats even purr when they die.
Cats have very good eyesight. Well, it is true partially. Of course they can see in darkness and see the objects in details that are next to them. But they almost don't see anything in well lightened room, besides they don't recognize the colors except of the grey. It is explained by the fact that the animals they hunt are of the grey colour.
Cats love the houses they live in but not the people they live with. Sometimes it is true and sometimes not. People are so sure about it, because there are a lot of cases when a cat returned to the house when the family had already moved from it. But cats do that only because they haven't found the place to hunt in the new house.
Cats have nine lives, in some cultures seven. This myth is based on the possibility of a cat to get out from the trap or situations that threaten its life using its flexibility and the possibility to walk without making noise and on the possibility to fall from the altitude and land on feet. Besides, the thought that some cats especially white and black ones may have some magical abilities was favorable for the forming of such myth. But of course, cats like all creatures on the planet have only one life.
